Don't Stain the Snow with the Pen Don’t stain the snow with the pen My pen is stained As I sit on the New Year’s day And hold a bald pen The sun slanted through Invisible snow burned somewhere in the world Facing the earth-the blank page My pen fell me A disciple of the Eight Finger Buddha, I know well The unbearable tradition of finger burning My Buddha, my poetry Have been writing a year Have disposed of many discarded poems I started afresh now A man was not fear bad writing I did not fear the snow burnt away my fingers
